Project Description

CPB Contractors and Seymour Whyte Constructions are working in a 50/50 joint venture to build a 12.5 km duplication of the Western Highway between Buangor and Ararat, on a contract valued at $84.8M. This project is part of the progressive Western Highway upgrades between Ballarat and Stawell, which will improve driver safety, enhance road freight efficiency, improve journey reliability and provide better access to local facilities. Construction will start in March 2018 and is expected to be completed in 2020. Works on the 12.5km section between Buangor and Ararat will include: • an upgrade to two lanes in each direction, with additional turning lanes • a new bridge over the railway line • two new bridges over Hopkins River • an interchange at Hillside Road, with entry and exit ramps.
