The Nepean River Bridge is a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge over the Nepean River to connect Penrith and Emu Plains. Construction will involve the incremental launch of the main 200 m single span tubular steel truss across the river—making it the largest uninterrupted single span shared user path bridge in Australia. The bridge structure will have a 4.6-m-wide steel walkway with viewing terraces. Other works include the construction of retaining walls, piles and piers to support the bridge, reconstruction of a 130 m section of Punt Road, adjustments to overhead and underground utilities, provision of lighting and landscaping improvements.
