Seymour Whyte Project Manager Wins Professional Excellence Award

Seymour Whyte Project Manager Stephen O’Brien was named the Queensland winner of the 2018 Professional Excellence Award for the Infrastructure category by the Australian Institute of Building.

The company’s Operations Manager – Northern Will MacDonald said, “Steve was recognised for his leadership and acumen in delivering Lucinda Drive Bridge at the Port of Brisbane as part of the Port Drive Upgrade.

“The client endorsed Steve for the award in recognition of the team’s outstanding efforts in delivering this bridge, which included the production, transportation and installation of the innovative Super I girders—a first for the Australian industry.”

AIB National President, Paul Heather said, “The Awards recognise the contribution and leadership shown by individuals to the successful completion of a construction project, reinforcing that the success of any building firm can be attributed to those responsible for construction projects.”

The judging criteria for the Awards weighs the contribution of individuals and the challenges that they face. It is based on the complexity of the project in its construction phase as opposed to the characteristics of the completed structure.

Winners of Professional Excellence Awards from the night will now go on to the National Awards to be held in Canberra on Saturday 7 September 2018.
