Project Description

Wyong Road is the major road linking the M1 Pacific Motorway (Sydney to Newcastle Freeway) with Wyong, Tuggerah, The Entrance and surrounding coastal suburbs. Seymour Whyte was engaged to deliver an upgrade of the intersection, to ease congestion and improve traffic flow along the Pacific Highway and Wyong Road for more reliable travel times during peak periods. The main works involved the conversion of the existing two-lane roundabout at the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Wyong Road at Tuggerah to a signalised intersection and associated approach works. A major feature of the contract was the construction of a new four-span bridge over the Main Northern Railway Line to accommodate eastbound traffic, as well as associated activities within the rail corridor including strengthening and protection works for the existing rail overbridge. The project has gone on to win both the 2018 New South Wales and National Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) Earth Awards for Excellence in Civil Construction (Category 5).
