The landside bridge is a 50 m single span underslung curved box girder steel bridge with an integral concrete deck that allows for vehicles of any height. The design allowed for bridge pedestrian and bicycle access. Construction was restricted by the location of the works and airport environment, therefore careful consideration was made during design and planning phases to ensure modified construction techniques and works program meet project requirements. The project formed part of the Sydney Airport Master Plan to develop the parcels of land owned by Sydney Airport on the north side of Airport Drive. In August 2016, the bridge was officially named the Nigel Love Bridge, founder of Sydney Airport and one of Australia’s greatest aviation pioneers.
