Port of Brisbane Motorway Upgrade
The $222m Port of Brisbane Motorway Upgrade is being undertaken by the Queensland Government as part of its long-term plan to meet the transport needs of the Port of Brisbane and the Australia TradeCoast.
The project features the upgrade and extension of four lanes from the Gateway Motorway through to Pritchard Street.
Importantly this extension will eliminate the need for heavy vehicles to use Lytton Road on their way to the port.
In addition, the project includes a new interchange at Pritchard Street with an overpass between Lytton Road and Export Street. This interchange will allow for local trips and provide access to the motorway.
Major construction commenced in April 2011, with completion expected in mid 2013.
The upgrade will ensure the Port of Brisbane Motorway provides a reliable, efficient and safe connection between the Gateway Arterial and the port into the future.
