Gold Coast Highway Upgrade Stage 3 and 4

Location: Gold Coast, Queensland

The project involves the duplication of the Gold Coast Highway from Broad Street to Harley Street. Works include extensive drainage upgrades, widening to two lanes in each direction divided by a central median, installation of a new signalised intersection and upgrading of other intersections.

This section of the Gold Coast Highway Upgrade includes a three metre cut through the hill at the western end, requiring a 150 metre retaining wall to support the existing service road.

The project includes a 350 metre run of box culverts down the centre of the southbound lanes and box culvert sections through four busy intersections.

With learning’s taken from the previous stages of the Upgrade, also delivered by Seymour Whyte Constructions, the project team have been able to work with the client in improving design and developing more effective construction solutions.
