On Friday 29th February Seymour Whyte Constructions in a joint venture with Abigroup were awarded the $110M Douglas Arterial Duplication. This project, for DTMR Townsville, is an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract which includes working with the designers, Aecom, to complete the detailed design and progress to the construction of the duplication.

The project involves the duplication of the existing Douglas Arterial motorway, part of the Townsville Ring Road. The 5.4km section of work includes earthworks, drainage, pavement, retaining walls, concrete barriers, signage and finishing works. There are also four bridges to duplicate including an eight span bridge crossing the Ross River.
